Free GPS Golf Rangefinder
Free GPS golf rangefinder - no laser, no subscription
A GPS golf rangefinder app uses your phone to show distance to the pin, green edges, and hazards. caddie.fun includes free GPS yardages inside live scoring - no $300 laser and no $20/month standalone GPS app.
When the course is mapped, you get an interactive yardage-book map - drag an aim point, read carry and remaining, see hazards. Built into live scoring, not a second app.

The problem
Stop guessing yardage - and stop paying monthly for GPS.
Sprinkler heads are hard to find. Yardage markers are approximate. A laser rangefinder costs hundreds. Standalone GPS golf apps often charge $20+ a month for the same distances your phone already knows how to measure.
caddie.fun puts a free GPS golf rangefinder inside live scoring: pin, green edges, hazards on 87% of courses, and shot measurement - so distance and the scorecard live in one place.

When the course is mapped, the rangefinder is the map
Drag the aim point on this illustrative hole. Live rounds use your phone GPS on the same yardage-book canvas - pin, green edges, hazards, and plays-like when elevation data exists.

Ready for live distances on your course?
Mapped courses open the interactive yardage book. Unmapped courses still show GPS distance when a pin or green center exists.

Questions
Common questions
What is a GPS golf rangefinder app?
A GPS golf rangefinder app uses your phone's GPS to show distance to the pin, green edges, and hazards - without a laser or subscription hardware. caddie.fun includes free GPS yardages inside live scoring on supported courses.
Is the rangefinder really free?
Yes. The GPS rangefinder is free for all caddie.fun users with no usage limits. No hidden fees, no premium tier required for distance tracking.
How accurate is the GPS rangefinder?
Accuracy depends on your phone's GPS hardware. Most modern smartphones are accurate to 3-5 yards, which is comparable to dedicated GPS rangefinder watches.
Does it work on all courses?
The rangefinder works at any golf course. Distance accuracy depends on available mapping data. We are continuously expanding our course mapping database.
Do I need a laser rangefinder too?
Not for everyday play. GPS covers pin, green edges, and mapped hazards. A laser still helps for flag-specific precision or when GPS is blocked by trees - but most rounds do not need both.
Does it drain my phone battery?
GPS tracking does use more battery than normal. We optimize updates to minimize impact. For an 18-hole round, expect 15-20% additional battery usage.
Can I use it during tournament play?
Check your tournament's local rules. Most amateur events allow GPS distance-measuring devices. The USGA permits distance-only devices by default under Model Local Rule G-5.
What is the shot measurement feature?
Shot capture runs automatically when you play with a compatible Apple Watch, Garmin, or phone GPS. It detects each shot and measures how far it carried, building your per-club distances over time - no tapping required.
Does it adjust for wind and elevation?
During a live round, plays-like distance can factor elevation and available weather data via ShotDistanceAdjustmentService. Adjustments depend on course mapping and live round context - not every surface has wind data on every hole.
Do I need to download an app?
The iOS app is best for on-course GPS and satellite views. You can also start a free round in the browser - live scoring and distances sync to your account when you sign up.
