An AI caddie only helps mid-round if the answer fits the pace of play. The job is one club, one target, one sentence you can act on before the group starts clearing its throat.

Here is the practical loop we designed for caddie.fun's AI caddie.

Before you tee off (two minutes)

Enter stock yardages for at least driver, a mid-iron, and a wedge.
Set miss pattern and shot shape in your caddie profile.
Open the pre-round brief: holes to attack, holes to respect, Blow-Up Radar.

Skip that and every in-round answer starts as a handicap-band guess. Honest systems will tell you they are guessing. Lazy ones will not.

On the tee or in the fairway

Ask short questions. Good prompts look like this:

"168 to a back pin, wind helping. What club?"
"Lay up or go at it?"
"Where do I usually blow up on this hole?"

Bad prompts look like essays. You do not need a swing philosophy between clubs. You need a number and a line.

On caddie.fun, In-Round mode is capped to roughly 40-60 words on purpose. Smart Play cards show club, yardage, aim line, and par-or-better probability without a wall of text.

When to override

Always. The caddie is advisory. Your override is training data - especially when you know a local wind tunnel the model has not logged yet. Thumbs-down a bad read. Correct a yardage. The memory only tightens if you push back.

After the round

Do not leave the insight in the group chat graveyard. Open the post-round recap, pick the top leak, and save the practice plan. That is how an AI caddie becomes a coach instead of a novelty.
