In the fall, the stars have the least to play for and the grinders have the most. Bet the reason a man is standing over the putt, not the name on his bag.
The guy who needs this is ranked 90th on the points list and knows exactly what a top-10 does for his next twelve months. That player closes harder on Sunday than his odds suggest, because his season is the one actually on the line. So do not just fade the stars blindly - price the motivation. A Presidents Cup player getting sharp is a fine each-way flyer. A hungry card-chaser with recent form on a course nobody knows is where the number is soft.
