Local knowledge

•Best time to play: Late afternoon rounds in summer when the wind lays down slightly and the light over the dunes is spectacular
•Hardest hole: 4
•Best photo holes: 4, 7
•Pro tip: Everything at Old Mac feeds off Macdonald's classic template holes - the greens are massive with multiple sections, so check the pin sheet and commit to the correct quadrant. When in doubt, play to the fat side; a 40-foot putt beats a short-sided chip from a revetted bunker every time. Take a caddie at least once - the blind shots on holes like Sahara (3) will eat you alive without local knowledge.
•Local knowledge: The turnstand behind the 10th green offers one of the best panoramic views on the property - and there's a 24/7 course camera there if friends back home want to spot you
